Doesn't Seem to Work Aug 01, 2010 There's no whistle a dog can hear that a cat can't. And I bought this whistle so I could call my cat without disturbing the neighbors. The trouble is, my cat was sitting on the other side of the windowed door to my kitchen and I whistled as loud as I could -- and he didn't even look up. He didn't even know I was there. Had I used my regular whistle, he would have looked up; but although I could hear the whistle quite clearly (there's not much that's silent about it), the cat couldn't hear it on the other side of the window, and I tried it at different levels. I finally tapped on the window and he came in, but I don't think the whistle will carry too far.

Good deal for the price Jul 30, 2010 This large, metal, adjustable dog whistle is not truly silent, of course - no dog whistle is. But it is well made and should last forever, for all practical purposes. It has a cap that covers the adjustment that's easy enough to remove and replace, but won't come off on its own; therefore protecting your setting, once you've found the frequency that most irritates your dog. A chain connects the cover to the body, so that you won't lose it. All in all, a sturdy product that does what it is supposed to.
NOT SILENT / Dogs come running Jul 18, 2010 This whistle is no more silent than my normal speaking voice. (I am 68 and have no better than average hearing for my age. My granddaughters say it hurts their ears.) Maybe your neighbor will not hear it if you live on a half-acre or larger lot.
On the other hand, because I am not too fast on my feet, I got the whistle to stop my dogs when they want to bark at people passing on the street. It works. Even if already barking they come running the first time they hear the whistle. (I have been reinforcing with small treats most of the time.)

Pretty Good--attracts birds more than dogs! May 13, 2010 This whistle is okay--it attracts more birds than my dog!! I love how it has a case inside of itself and is
really light. My cat likes it better than the dog due to it letting birds come down to her level.
But I cannot guarantee it will work for your cat.
I'll keep trying with the dog, we will see if she ever
obeys to the whistle.
Thanks for reading my review.

It works! Oct 02, 2009 My dog, a pit-bull-labrador mix, likes to bark. I can sit in the house and blow this whistle, and she will immediately stop barking and come inside. If you're expecting a "silent" dog whistle, this isn't it, but I'm not sure that there really is such a thing. It can be heard, but it's very quiet. I doubt that my neighbors ever hear it. I'm happy with it.
